Flow and Flourish: A Mindset & Movement Experience
On a golden October morning in Glendora, California, women from all walks of life gathered among the trees for Flow & Flourish: A Movement & Mindset Experience—a one-day retreat designed to help guests reconnect to their bodies, restore their energy, and realign their purpose. Hosted by The Yoga Dance Co. in collaboration with Dr. Marcella Camberos (aka The Latina Leader), this special event blended movement, mindfulness, and holistic nourishment into a day that felt like a deep exhale for the soul.
A Retreat Rooted in Renewal
As the sunlight filtered through the trees and the air carried the scent of fall, guests arrived at the serene outdoor venue, welcomed with warmth and intention. From the very first moment, the energy was calm, inviting, and supportive—a space for women to truly be.
The day began with a grounding yoga practice designed to help participants reconnect with their bodies and release built-up tension. Each breath and movement carried a sense of purpose, inviting stillness and strength in equal measure. Auburn’s blend of flow, freedom, and mindfulness reminded everyone that yoga is not about perfection—it’s about showing up as you are in that very moment, about presence.
Wellness, Wholeness, and the Power of Pause
Following the morning movement session, motivational speakers dedicated to women’s wellness led workshops that encouraged self-reflection and mindful awareness. Through thoughtful discussion and practical exercises, participants were invited to explore what wellness truly means—not as an ideal or checklist, but as an ongoing relationship with oneself.
As women we’ve all experienced burnout, busyness, and the challenges of balancing family, work, and personal well-being. Together, the group explored small yet powerful shifts—like creating moments of pause throughout the day, aligning their businesses or work life with the moon cycle, and letting their bodies flow and move through yoga and dance.
Participants were given small journals and were encouraged throughout the day to take part in Creative Journaling, writing what came to them, reflecting and turning inward to allow space for self-expression and emotional release. Surrounded by nature, questions that came to mind included things like:
• What does flourishing mean to me?
• Where am I holding back from my own growth?
• What can I let go of to create space for what’s next?
Other aspects of the day included forms of relaxation like massage therapy and acupuncture, moments for creativity and self-expression like henna and potting plants - and fun moments of empowerment like belly dancing and pole dancing.
The vendors that came out to this event ranged from smoothie acai bowls and wellness drinks, to fitness clothing and forever jewelry, to CBD and sage smudgesticks. There was truly something for everybody and their presence made for an enriching time of leaning into all different kinds of wellness.
Restorative Re-Centering: Coming Home to Yourself
As the afternoon light softened, an over-water soundbath created an immersive experience of vibration and sound designed to restore harmony to the body and mind. This calming practice brought everyone back to their center, back to the very present moment they were in. It was a moment to release the busyness of daily life and reconnect to the stillness within. For many, it was the first time in months—or even years—they had given themselves permission to simply rest.
The tones of crystal bowls and gentle percussion echoed across the water as hummingbirds flew in and out of the trees overhead. Participants described the experience as “magical,” “healing,” and “like being wrapped in peace.” For many, it was a powerful reminder of how deeply the body responds to stillness, vibration, and sound. There was a sense of celebration in the air—of sisterhood, renewal, and joy.
By the end of the evening, there was a collective glow—a visible shift in energy that could only come from a day spent fully present, supported, and seen. Many attendees described feeling lighter, more centered, and deeply inspired to continue caring for themselves in meaningful ways.
“This day has been amazing. It’s been a beautiful experience, and something that my soul was craving” one participant shared. Another said, “This event has been so great, a lot of good speakers, good stretching, great food and great company.”
The name Flow & Flourish perfectly captured the essence of the day: the balance between movement and stillness, effort and ease, self-discovery and self-compassion. Flow represents the way we move—through yoga, through life, through change. Flourish represents the growth that happens when we nurture ourselves, our connections, and our dreams. Together, they embody what The Yoga Dance Co. stands for: empowering individuals to move with freedom, live with mindfulness, and cultivate joy in every season of life. The Yoga Dance Co. and Dr. Marcella Camberos created more than just a retreat—they created a community of women committed to growth, wellness, and flourishing together.
Looking Ahead
Following the success of the event, The Yoga Dance Co. has plans to host more retreats and wellness gatherings in the coming year, expanding opportunities for movement, mindfulness, and connection within the community. Whether you’re new to yoga or holistic wellness, these experiences offer something special for everyone—a chance to slow down, listen deeply, and rediscover what it means to thrive.
